William McEwen, Scots Guard 1942

William McEwen
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 17:34 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I'm not sure where to start.  I am trying to find information on my Grandfather or at least some of his living relatives.  All that is known is: William (Bill) McEwen, a Scots Guard and was posted in London during WWII.  I know for sure he was there in 1942 & 1943.  At that time he was from Dunbarton Scotland and apparently married to the daughter of a Brazilian Farmer.

I have posted a photograph of William and hope that someone could help me as I live in Australia and have no idea where to turn to next.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Regards, JillyMo

Hi

What a wonderful photo to have in your possesion.  Do you have a birth year for your man?   Bear in mind though that we can't post details fo living people on this forum.

Oops, I didn't even consider that.  Sorry guys.  No idea of birth dates.  My grandmother (who has passed on) didn't give my mum much information on Bill.  Just what we have and the photo, which is a great treasure indeed.

Thanks again

Hi Jillymo

Ok then lets go about it this way since you say your wonderful gran has sadly passed on then maybe we can find info on the pictured chap by going through your Gran if she was at one time married to the pictured man that is

If your willing to share the following then maybe we can go through the 'backdoor' to find your 'grandad'

What was grans name and maiden name and when and where was she born?
