Church of Bodicote, marriage 1876
« on: Sunday 11 October 09 20:58 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for more information in regard to the marriage of William Timms and Annie Elleman on the 4/3/1876, at this stage trying to identify which church the Church of Bodicote would be.

Living in Australia, difficult to determine, but was wondering if this would have been the St. John the Baptist Church of England at Bodicote

regards

hi janjim

I have a copy of the OFHS transcripts for St. John the Baptist Bodicote

Can confirm that the marriage took place there although William's surname has been transcribed as Simms

William was of full age a bachelor of Bodicote, labourer, his father William, tradesman
Annie  was of full age spinster of Bodicote, her father Robert, labourer
witnesses were James Boffin and Laura Butler

Hi, Myfi,

This is really great, confirmed it all, yes transcribing can be quite confusing, but we've definitely got Timms on the certificate.

Thanks for your assistance.   We hope to be over in England next year, and wanted to check out the church and areas where the family lived.

Is there a Museum or the like around the area of Bodicote where we can visit and possibly do a tour.

glad to help.

Think the museum at Banbury would be the nearest to Bodicote but I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the area will correct me if I'm wrong.  The whole area is really picturesque and I am sure you will enjoy your visit.

Yes, I thought Banbury would probably be the main place to check out things, really looking forward to visiting the area

Hi Jan.

Church at Bodicote is a lovely little church.............there is a museum in Banbury but dont think it would be much help for family history..........Banbury has a study/reference part in the Library, and Oxford has a record centre.....I keep meaning to go there myself................I live in Bloxham the next village to Bodicote so if you contact me when you come over perhaps I can help.
