joe smith was born in 1902 Keighley to Arthur Smith and Sarah Ann Bland ,my understanding was that he went on to be a mill owner, alderman and perhaps , mayor somewhere in west Yorkshire. He I think died in the 1970s. He may of manufactured ties or school badges and oh yes he was in the masons . Can anyone help with information? thanks stoop.

Hi Stoop,
Do you have information of where Joe was at various points in his life ?
At time of Marriage ?
The masons should be able to supply an address or addresses, sorry I can't find theirs just now.  ?...Provincial Office, West Riding.
There were several Smiths held the office of Mayor in Bradford in the timespan but none of them called Joe. Try googling Keighley timeline or various other nearby towns.

I have an interest in the ancestors of Sally Ann Bland, any connections to Haworth ?

Good morning Dave thanks for your response to my post. Joe was my great uncle, brother of my grandmother but I never met him. My knowledge of him is sketchy, it is very frustrating because I have photographs of him taken with the Earl of Munster, one of him and his wife outside Buckingham Palace after receiving some gong and yet another of him surrounded by his factory workers. In my memory Bingley comes to mind, I do not know why. My Sarah Ann Bland was married to Arthur Smith cab proprietor from Keighley , as I recall Sarah was born in  or near Keighley. Any further help you can offer I will appreciate. Regards Roger (stoop).

Hi Roger
A Mr. J. Smith was chairman of the Queensbury and Shelf UDC 1941-1951 You can find the entry by googling Bradford Mayors.
Does the photo of him with factory workers show any of the factory? and is there a photographers name or other information on it ?
If you post a copy of the photo someone might recognise the factory or perhaps one of the workers. If there is a name then post it in the photography section.
