Im researching the Louden family from BLackford, Perthshire. The Head of the household was David Louden born about 1815 He was a farmer of 229 acres. He lived at a farm/village/house called Nether Forden, I have not been able to find Nether Forden on any maps can anyone help me. The Loudens lived at Nether Fordun from 1861 to about 1891, In 1891 the family was living in Muirton Cottage.
Can Anyone help?

Use the 1787 Stobie Map of Perthshire http://www.nls.uk/maps/joins/664.html
Forden is to the North of Auchterarder and West of Aberuthven
Hope your new tree makes sense!

You could stay in the Gleneagles hotel and have a luxurious weekend and a round of golf
I remember driving that stretch before the bypass was built and it was not much fun in the summer

Not sure if this will work but this is the Google maps link to Muirton Cottage:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/07a6/
It doesn't directly but click on the Muirton Cottage link on the left of the main map

My Loudens are:
Andrew Louden abt 1889 Lochee (son of Cathrine Father Unknown)
Cathrine abt 1859 Scone, Perthshire Janet McAlly? abt 1818 St Martins, Perthshire (mother of Cathrine) David Louden abt 1813 Kettins, Forfarshire (father of Cathrine)
Can any one translate Janets surname from the extract of Cathrines Birth?

Hi Lorica
It looks like McAlly to me and on the IGI (extracted) there is this baptism:
Catherine Wedderburn Louden bpt 29 June 1858, Scone
Parents - David Louden and Janet McAlly

PS - when I last played golf in the 1980s, my handicap was 16
