Edward Armstrong of Terwinney
« on: Monday 12 October 09 19:53 UTC (UK) »

I would hate to start a brouhaha here but what is the current thinking on him? Were Edward of the Border and Edward of Terwinney one and the same? And what of the references to his marriage to Margaret "Mary" McGuire and the references to Miss Thomas? Do we know any more about the later? Did he have more children than the James, John, and Francis that are always referred to?

It seems a little scrambled by a few well intended genealogists / descendants, so I am sure that I am not the first to ask the questions and I don't want to muddle it yet again.

Have no idea what you are talking about and other might also be equally puzzled so perhaps you could explain what you mean (and dates might also help). Huh

I just assumed that an Armstrong would recognise the name immediately.  Edward was born in 1604 in Scotland and died in Fermanagh Ireland in 1650.

Very few of us, even with Armstrong connections in Fermanagh, might know our ancestors back to 1600s (there are LOTS of Armstrongs in Fermanagh yet). As with most Irish research there are probably very few original records about Edward in existence.
