Hi Richardsons,
Welcome to Rootshat Smiley

What specifiacally do you want to know and what info do you have on them?

Here they are in 1851 Census;
1851 Census
HO107/1759/655/26
High Street
Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire

James WATERS, 48, head, mar, Blacksmith, born Chishill, Herts
Sarah..., 32, wife, mar, born Shelford, Cambridgeshire
Joseph..., 13 (transc.23) son, unm, scholar, born Shelford
Jane..., 9, daug, unm, scholar , born Shelford
Ann..., 7, daug, unm, scholar, born Shelford
RICHARD..., 5, son, unm, scholar, born Shelford
FREDERICK ..,2, son, unm, born Shelford

Obviously something must have happened to their parents between 1851/1861 for them to end up in the Workhouse Sad

Greetings from Sydney Smiley

There is a Tree that shows this;

James died in a Railway accident July 1855
Sarah died March 1853 and was buried 24 march 1853, St MaryThe Virgin, Gt Shelford.
I have checked and there are corresponding death reg in this period for Sarah and James.

James WATERS married Sarah DUCE
11 November 1836 according to the Tree

What child are you descended from?

Hi again,
I have been unable to find Richard, born 1846 on any other Census unfortunately.

There is a death though;
Richard WATERS
December 1861
Newmarket 3b 329
No age given

The only other death at all for a Richard Waters in Cambridgeshire is in 1883, age 61, so to old for him.

Will look for Frederick later.

If you check the Camdex site, which takes BMD entries from the local register offices, at http://www2.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/db/riddeaths.nsf/search?OpenForm
the Richard Waters who died in 1861 was also 61

on another note ,the ship that brought Joseph to Australia was full of people from Shelford ,Gt & Little , and folk from all over Cambridge

thanks again

The Ship was the "BOANERGES" and docked in Sydney in Oct 1857.

sorry I did not get a list of names but remember that there were people from the area on board

I think from memory you google New South Wales Assisted Immigrant Lists 1828-1896    or google the ship name

Much appreciated, thank you very much, I will try that.  I didn't really think about immigration with my Cambridgeshire lot.  Grin
