Thomsons of Cargill, Perthshire

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has connections with the Thomsons  from Cargill or the nearby village of Woodside.

My connection is via David Thomson 1804-1861 and his wife Mary 1809-1873.
David was a son of George Thomson and Jannet Fenwick.

David and his family were heavily involved in the timber industry. Was this the primary source of income for this area in the early 1800's?
