Ulster Covenant
« on: Tuesday 13 October 09 19:13 UTC (UK) »

Hi, can anyone tell me what the letters M E R, written under the names of some of the ladies who signed the Ulster Covenant in 1912, actually means?

Also, any suggestions welcome on what the name 'Minnie' is short for.

Thanks!

Minnie is often a nickname for Mary but can be used as a name in its own right.
Not sure about M.E.R.- can you give names, etc. for us to have a look?

Yes, link worked. The initials are the name of the person who signed the form (notice handwriting it the same) so it looks like those people were unable to write their own name.
