BRABAN/HURLBATT in NSW

Hi

A great x 2 uncle, Frederick Hurlbatt born Newington London in 1842 emigrated to Australia and in 1877 married Mahala Braban who was born in Sydney abt 1852.

They had 3 children Elizabeth May born 1878, Frederick Clarence born 1880 and Alice N born 1882 all born in Sydney.

In 1885 they returned to England aboard the Austral and lived in Croydon. Mahala was still alive in 1911. Three of her grandchildren (Elizabeth's children and my mother's cousins) returned to Australia and thanks to people on here I have been able to find them.

What I would like to find out now is:

a) Who were Mahala's parents?
b) When did Frederick go to Australia? He appears in the 1861 UK census, I can't see him in 1871   
     and obviously he is there by 1877.

From  the NSW online BMD There is no birth recorded for Mahala Braban.

However there is  this very good possibility
REg no V18512932 37A/1851
BREBAN  Mahal father George mother Ann
