Pipers House near Chirnside - COMPLETED, thank you.
« on: Wednesday 14 October 09 18:11 UTC (UK) »

Can anyone in the Chirnside area tell me where I can find what used to be called 'the pipers house'. My Dad's family lived there many moons ago. I went to see it a couple of times with Dad but can't remember how we got there. It was just walls then but I heard that someone had renovated it. I think there were a few trees around it and you could also look up the hill to a farm. I have gone round the area once or twice but just can't see it.

Hi Rae,

I’ve located Pipers house on the map, well actually my husband has. Anyway we’ve linked it to the 1861 census so you can click on the exact location on Google maps but also view the historic maps.

I believe the farm you may have seen up the hill would be Lintlaw farm, we’ve linked the map to the census too just to make it easy to find.

Hope this helps,

Emma

Hi Emma,
Thank you so very much for that. I now see where I have been going wrong in my search. It was Lintlaw Farm that I remember my Dad talking about now that you mention it so that is definitely the house.
