My Wonderful & Funny Father

Hi Bob
You do have the option of ordering Ellen's sister's Birth Certs if you get stuck with Ellen. Hopefully you'll find out what you need. I would be interested in the results when you get them.
Regards Wendy

Very much a longshot but you may want to investigate it while waiting for the certificate.
There is a Mary Ann LAKE marrying in 1864:
Dec 1864 Dorchester 5a 783 Frank Bascombe Caroline Brown Mary Ann Lake
You will see that there is a groom missing. It may be that Caroline Brown's husband is the missing one; but it may be George Jones. (You will need to check later censuses). I have tried the usual tricks to see if there is another groom with nearly the same number but haven't found one.
This Mary Ann Lake appears to be the Mary Ann Randall who married Charles Ernest Lake in 1860, but I can't find his death immediately. She does appear as a 17 year-old dressmaker, born in Fordington, in the 1861 census, so that at least is right as Mary Ann Jones also gives her place of birth as Fordington in the 1881 census.
Richard
