Welcome to Rootschat. This reply covers all 3 of your posts.

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so for earlier dates (such as you need) you need to search for church records (if they exist) but to do so you need to know both the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland not just the county). Some areas in Ireland do have pay sites where there are details of church records in their databases so perhaps someone will be able to suggest ones. You can also try LDS site www.familysearch.org as they do have some pre-registration records in IGI (although be sure to see if it's an extracted record or one submitted by a member- which may not be as accurate).

Thank you for the welcome.

I have searched familysearch.org and everything else I can think of!

Just putting it out there in the hope someone remembers seeing the name maybe.

From the work I have done with Australian records (I assume he was in Aus from what you say) the death cert should have a lot of details including where born.

You may get enough to give you a parish. With, dare I say it, common names like that you will have a lot of trouble tracking them down in Ireland without more exact info

Thanks, I know they are rather common names!

His death cert just says Tipperary - no help at all.
