Where is my Ada?
« on: Thursday 15 October 09 12:19 UTC (UK) »

I’m trying to find Ada WESTON, daughter of John William Weston and Sarah Weston (yes they were cousins), born 24 December 1884 at the Grove Inn, Lenton, Nottingham.  She was last seen on the 1901 census as an orphan, head of household aged 16, at The Hope and Anchor, 67 Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham.  There is the possibility from the 1911 census that she was in Malton, North Ridings as a domestic/nurse with a Dr Shaw and his family.  The name, age and place of birth all tally.  Did she marry in to your family, away from her Nottingham roots?  I bought a marriage certificate for a likely Ada marrying in Nottingham but although the father was a John Weston, other details were wrong.  A search on FreeBMD for a possible marriage has thrown up too many candidates all over the country.  Huh
