Hi, Some further info. A parent search on the IGI (part of www.familysearch.org) using Thomas Fisher and Mary Beattie, who were married in Ballygowan Presbyterian Church, Newtownards on 4 Feb 1865, will give the siblings of Robert James Fisher.
Regards

Hi again, This may spoil your day a little but I think that the marriages which I gave may not be yours as a little more digging shows the father in the 1893 marriage was likely to be George Fisher and the father in the 1906 marriage was Robert James Fisher.
However a look at the on line 1911 census for Ireland shows a 39 year old Robert James Fisher living in Killinchey St, Comber with his wife of 12 years Rebecca and 4 children. Rebecca was born in Belfast and the two elder children were also born in Belfast. I Have found a marriage of Robert Fisher to Rebecca Ferguson in St. Annes Church of Ireland, Shankill, Belfast on 30 Apr 1898.

Hi americangirl. I put your query to a distant cousin in Co. Down who is a Fisher descendant herself, and this was her reply -
Harry
Thanks for passing that information on. This is a different Fisher family to ours (although I suspect that they have common ancestors in the 18th century that we cannot know about). I don't think there are any male descendants of that family in the area now. Fisher seems to be one of those names that disappears as boys are few and far between or do not marry! It is interesting that the men in this Fisher family also marry Fergusons - but both our Fishers and Fergusons families were members of this church in Comber. If you feel inclined you might tell american girl that there are two Fisher distinct families in the area - just in case she had pulled the name Robert James off some other site. We have mislaid the descendants of Samuel Fisher and Agnes Dugan who had a grandson called Hopkins (his father was Euler Hopkins, but I cannot recall the grandson's name at the moment. it might have been Euler Jnr.) but this family emigrated from Comber c. 1850 to Batavia NY State. Their daughter died young and we really do not know what happened next. It is just possible that american girl is looking for them. I think they lived somewhere near Buffalo - but it is quite some time since I looked at this all and I am pushed for time tonight.
