KB953297 is an update to .Net Framework 1.1 and it can be removed using Add or Remove Programs within Control Panel.
If KB95329 was showing in my Add/Remove Programs.....I would be happy because that would mean that it was installed on my computer.  The problem is that it will not install Smiley Smiley

DOWNSIDE. I have looked at that website...I have tried all the fixes some guys have had success with - unfortunately I'm not one of the lucky ones that it has worked for.
Will wait to see if Microsoft comes back to me with a solution to my problem.

Thanks to all for your input.

Sorry to see you're still having problems.

If Microsoft don't come up with the goods through their usual support teams - not unknown for them to assign problems to teams not trained to deal with them  Smiley - try asking for the problem to be escalated to the UK Response Management Team. They seem to have access to a wider range of technical people.

I think you should try manually installing/updating .NET Framework.

Click on STart >> Windows Update.

Click the CUSTOM (not Express) button.

It should list various updates available in the left hand column.

Select any .NET Framework updates you can find.

I have had some kind success at last.
Graham -  I did not wait for Microsoft to get back to me.

Downside -
I took your advice and did a CUSTOM search for updates.  I downloaded .Net Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .Net Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847)x86. I also updated that when it installed.
It was a large download - so now when I go to Control Panel - Programs - or whatever it's called - I can see lots of things for .Net Framework.

The strange thing is, that update KB953297 still comes up. I tried to install it again, and also remove the .Netframework 1.1 - service pack 1 - via Add/Remove Programs - Control Panel - unsuccessful again. Huh

I guess I don't need to bother with it now.

Thanks for your help.
