Looking for Alfred Medhurst born 1830 Hurstbourne Tarrant parents are William and Elizabeth born 1786ish.

Is Alfred really Charles Alfred but known as Alfred and/or Alfred Charles?

Charles Alfred MEDHURST
Birth Date: 27 Apr 1829
Christening Date: 21 Aug 1836
Christening Place: Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire
Father's Name: William MEDHURST
Mother's Name: Elizabeth



I see that in 1861 Alfred is married to Jane age 35 born London, with children Jane G age 3, Frances M age 2 and Agnes age 10 months all born in East India. He could have been there in 1851.

This is a possible marriage,

Presidency of Marriage BENGAL
Marriage Year 1855
A E Medhurst
Jane Greenwood


Here are two of the children,

Frances Mary MEDHURST
Birth:  11 MAR 1859   
Christening:  14 APR 1859   Ghazeepore, West Bengal, India
Father:  Alfred Charles MEDHURST
Mother:  Jane 

Agnes MEDHURST
Christening:  24 DEC 1860   Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire
Father:  Alfred Charles MEDHURST
Mother:  Jane


Getting one of the later children's birth certs would confirm/disprove the mother's maiden name,

Alfred Charles MEDHURST    Dec Q 1861    Andover    2c  190
or
Bessie MEDHURST    Dec Q 1863    Whitchurch H    2c  193

Elizabeth Medhurst is a widow in 1851-occupation -Grocer.
