Hello Kovel
This looks like Daniel and Milicent in 1861:
1861 Census RG09 Piece 964 Folio 6 Page 5 Water End, Alwalton CLARKE, Daniel, Head, Married, 27, Agricultural Labourer, born Alwalton Hunts CLARKE, Millicent, Wife, 31, born Upton Northants
This could be them in 1871:
1871 Census RG10 Piece 1514 Folio 5 Page 2 Mill End, Alwalton CLARKE, Daniel Head, 38, Ag Lab, born Alwalton, Hunts CLARKE, Mildred, Wife, 41, born Upton, Northants
(The name on the Schedule is "Mildred" but could well be an error by the Enumerator)
Can't find Elizabeth! Any more information about her, please?

Hello Kovel
Sorry but you have confused me!
The Elizabeth Dewberry living with George in Cambridge St Andrew is his wife - therefore her maiden name was probably not "Dewberry"!
Possible marriage for them:
Marriages Sep 1848 Cambridge Vol. 14 Page 9 BRANNAN, James Burling, Charlotte DEWBERRY, George FROMANT, Caroline Mott, Mary Ann NORTH, Henry WELCH, James WHITE, Elizabeth

Hello Kovel
I think on the 1841 Census Eliza’s age is probably 4 not 8 although it could be 6. (Compare the entry for Eliza with that for the age of Ann Aveling on the opposite side of the page)
Regarding the elusive Eliza, the following data could be worth further investigation (despite the inconsistencies and "age" irregularities):

Hello, again, Kovel
Thank you for the information.
This is from CFHS (Cambridgeshire Baptisms):
1812 DEWBURY Martha Age: 1m bb. of Sophia & S.BERRIDGE Parish: Whittlesey
1812 BERRIDGE, Martha Age: 1m bb. of Stamford & S.DEWBURY Parish: Whittlesey
Are you sure that the Marthas are two different people? The details look very similar to me - enough to suggest that it could perhaps be the baptism of the same baby!
..... and the IGI "confusion" relates to "Submitted Records" which I have found to be notoriously unreliable.
Have you checked the actual registers?

Hello Kovel
Your initial enquiry mentioned only Elizabeth Dewberry - there was no mention that Elizabeth may have been known as Eliza nor of the possible Berridge connection.
May I suggest, please, that if you seek assistance in your research you give all of the available information that you have otherwise there could be a tendency for those who seek to help you to be lead astray. Eliza Dewberry Berridge is, of course, a possibility but there does not seem to be any corroboration. Also there has been no previous reference to Sophia having a daughter called Eliza. Eliza was, you indicated, the daughter of Martha Dewberry and James Jones. So it is all very confusing!.
Good Luck with your research.

Hi Ivanidea, Firstly I would like to say that I had very little to work with, my goal was to figure out who the elizabeth was in the census index being only six years, with who. As we were going through this process, I started to put peices I had together, hence the new info as we progressed through. Maybe I should of added all the possibilites first to the first request, but didnt expect to develop further this far. The info you gave has helped to put these together. Sophia dewberry born 1791 had children with Stamford Berridge, these were Bapt Alice 1816, Eliza 1818, Martha 1812, Stamford 1821. Eliza 1818 married Henry Aveling, confirmed by niece sophia on census, who was the dau of Stanford 1821 Martha 1812 had a daughter Eliza with James Jones bapt 1837 a bastard baby. Martha later married John Pinion since found, born 11 Aug 1820 bpt 19 march saint mary-wesleyan huntingdon. This info was in bits and peices until today as you filled in the gaps and eliminated possible others. I was gathering info as you was putting it up, I was not looking to lead you a stray, I just did not have a clear picture. This I must admit needs more work, but everything you gave me helped. Iam often my own worst enemy as I tend to see one thing and ask another and dont consider the helper not thinking whats in my head. I agree with everything you say, I am learning every day, trying to be more organized and better at doing this, but sometimes I get total confussed and get desperate. Sometimes I think I am to old for this. Sorry, Best regards Kovel.
