Leach's to New York.
« on: Friday 16 October 09 13:56 UTC (UK) »

Hi All

I have just come off the Ellis Island site where they have a record of George Alfred Leach b1867 & his wife Celestine Emily C Leach travelling to New York from Southampton in May 1907.

The trouble is the original documents that they have to see are not the correct ones (they are the ones fro a ship arriving from Amsterdam! Just as well I'm not ordering them).

Could someone please have a look & see what deatils are listed. I'm interested in the address of where they were going mostly.

Regards Suzanne

It says they are going to join "Relatives J. Kraft:  Fairground" and on the next line "Long Island, New York N.Y."  It also looks like their children are with them - George Alfred Castle Leach, age 8 years 4 months, and Doris Neva (not sure about second name) Leach, age 7 years 1 month.

I don't know if this is of any interest to you, or if it is the correct family.

New York to Liverpool/Queenstown Ireland
Arrival date Sept 29th 1911  Ship Baltic
Leach Celestine H/Wife
           George child
Doris child   both between age of 1 and 12

There is no incoming address I'm afraid, and George Alfred is not with them.

Kind regards

Hi All

Su - Thanks for that. There is a record of a George Leach travelling back to New York from South America. He travvelled a lot here too & in 1901 was a furniture salesman. My interest is in his wife who was the daughter of a ditant relative of my husband's & her french husband. Her maiden name was Castel & all her siblings had it.

I will look at the Kraft connection. Isn't there a famous fair on Long Island? I'm off to have a look.

Thank you all so much!
