Thanks

Charles Whordley is definitely not the one as I had him for the father for 3 years until I got James marriage cert about a month ago and have had to start again!!

In later census James is down from Dawley/Wellington in Shropshire but I guess it is possible that he originally came from Staffs so the others you mention Wendy might be worth checking out - and much appreciated!

Hi Wendy

Thanks for all those - I will look at them after the weekend as my parents are coming to stay.  James was 28 in the 51 and 38 in the 61, he was 41 when he died in Feb 1865.

Very quickly though!!
His jobs are down as Stock-taker (marriage and death cert), iron miner and furnaceman in the census. So out of all those you found for me that just gives me two where he's an iron miner neither of which he is living with parents!

Hi

They married in the Shifnall district I see, which covers Staffs & Shropshire [have you checked the areas covered?], so is that where she came from or may be he did too. Where are they in the 1851 Census?

Hi Wendy

I've been through all documentation for him
1851 census living in Stone Row, Dawley, Malinslee: James from Stirchley, Shropshire, Elizabeth from Malinslee, Shropshire living with her brother.
1861 census living in Stone Row (diff.no), Dawley Malinslee: James from Dawley, Salop, Elizabeth from Old Park, Salop.
Marriage cert: Parish Church Shifnal, both living in what looks like Skedskile but having googled could be Snedshill which is near Dawley.
Death cert: Madeley, Dawley, Salop, living at Hinkshay, Dawley

Looking on multimap they are all very much in the same area near Telford and down as Shropshire.
Undecided
