Hi all

Trying to locate marriage of WILLIAM KNIGHTS b.1809 Chillesford and ELIZA [unknown] b. 1809 Campsea Ash.

Children: Emma 1831, Robert 1834, Sarah 1836, John 1839, Mary 1841 Elizabeth 1843 and Eliza 1846.  also possibly William 1837

Any help appreciated.

This is the only candidate for this marriage on the Suffolk Marriage Index 1813 - 1837.


William KNIGHTS to Elizabeth BARRIOT - 6th January, 1834 - Denham
Both single and of the parish of Denham.

This clearly post dates the birth of your couples' first child, though it should not be ruled out solely on this basis.  If this is not your couple, it would tend to suggest that they married out of the county or that they did not marry.

Taken from Chillesford parish register.

Children of William and Eliza Knights.

Emma 30th January 1831
Robert 24th November 1834 (born 15th July 1833)
Sarah 25th December 1835
John 27th May 1838
Mary 1st July 1855
Elizabeth 20th September 1857 (born 16th Jan 1843)
Eliza 20th September 1857 (born 11th Dec 1845)

Could not see a baptism for William ~1837.

As Rick said above, there was not marriage at either Chillesford or Campsea Ashe for William and Eliza.

Also from Chillesford PR:

William s/o Zachariah Knights and Sarah his wife born 15th February 1809 and privately baptised 23rd Febuary 1809 and received into the church 19th March 1809.

I tried to look for an Eliza baptised ~1809 at Campsea Ashe but with no maiden name it wasn't easy  Huh

There were 4 Eliza's baptised about this time and as I had time, I made a note of them in case they help in future.  Of course none of them might be right:

Eliza d/o John Brook and Anne (late Elliott) born 27 Oct 1808 bap 9 Nov 1808
Eliza d/o Robert Crisp and Elizabeth (late Cook) born 29th Dec 1808 bap 7th May 1809
Eliza d/o Isaac Ling and Rachel (late Mann) born 11th Apr 1808 bap 7th June 1808
Eliza d/o Nathaniel Self and Sarah (late Knights) - also buried May 1809
