Hi all,
I think I may have solved half the story.  I found an entry in 1841  not sure that it is them, if someone could check for me.  The problem is on old marriage certs they do not state age or parents names accept on a few occasions.  I have the following from a census on Kilbarchan Renfrew 1841
Hugh Smith aged 40 Agr. Lab from Ireland (does not state where)
Mary                      40   Gros Data 568/00  005/00 003
Elizabeth              19
Ann                       17
Margaret                15
Mary                      12
Muir                       11
Lolla                      5
Alexander              9
Hellen                     1
Logged
Scotland.
Lanark/Argyll/Renfrew/Ayr:Smith, Steele,Kirkwood,Hamilton,May,orO'may
