Help with identifying uniform please??
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 18:02 UTC (UK) »

I believe this to be my great grandfather Charles Daniel Peckover born December 1872 in Kidderminster. I believe his uniform belongs to the 14th Kings Hussars? Am I correct? Any takers out there??? Finally, where should I look to find a little more about him and his service?? I'm a complete novice!! Thankyou.

Yes to the fact that he is a 14th (The King's) Hussars.

The collar badge of the Prussian Eagle identifies that.

He's wearing No.2 Dress, a blue patrol jacket, rather than full dress.  Circa 1890's-1900's.

From the QSA rolls, Boer War:

7 Lance-Cpl C.D. Peckover,14th Hussars
clasps - Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, Cape Colony, OFS, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith. From 10th Hussars

So he transferred from the 10th Hussars at some point prior.
