Mugridge-Distington
« on: Sunday 18 October 09 18:40 UTC (UK) »

My ancestory William Mugridge was  b. abt 1772 in  Castle Hedingham, Essex. I last found him on a census in 1861 in Distington, aged 89 but I can't find his death record anywhere. Has anyone any ideas about this.

I think I found his birth on the parish records of Castle Hedingham as 'Muckeridge' along with two siblings do you think this may be him?

Thanks
Rosie

think this might be him
death index
name; william mudgrige
y.o.r. 1864
qtr; jan/feb/mar
dist; whitehaven
vol; 10b
page; 387
whitehaven is the reg.dist for where he was in 1861
you would need the death cert to be sure
hopefully his grand daughter who was with him in 1861
would have her signature on the death cert.

I think a grandson of his married an ancestor of mine.

William MUGRIDGE
.
Martha MUGRIDGE married Thomas MOORE
.
William MOORE married Mary BURNS

I would be interested in the Castle Hedingham records please Smiley

Regarding spelling, his daughter Mary had children bap

Hi Geoff

I found the baptism on this website under 'Muckeridge'

http://www.castlehedingham.org/
Baptisms at St Nicholas Church

Also found this on National Archives:
WILLIAM MUGRIDGE
Born CASTLE HEDINGHAM, Essex
Served in Cumberland Militia; Norfolk Fencibles
Discharged aged 55

Thanks for that Smiley

I don't have his marriage, but two baptisms at Penrith (Mary and Martha MOGRIDGE) give his wife as being Ann SALKELD.
