Portstewart in Co. Londonderry is quite a distance from Dublin. According to obituary in Coleraine Chronicle, 26 Nov.1864, John Black (blacksmith, aged 65 years) died 7 Sept.1864 at Port Lincoln, South Australia.

Shaw's Directory 1850 shows a Zachariah Jaques (a carver) at 68 Jervis Street Dublin. Any help?

Coleraine Chronicle (started 1844) is not online but I already checked for births and none published (very few people put in birth notices at such an early date). Also checked Londonderry Sentinel (started 1829).

No more detail than what I posted- death notices at that time were very brief.

An advertisement in The Irish Times on Page 1 of the edition for 27th September 1864 refers to a Mr Jacques- Surgeon Dentist being at 208 Great Brunswick Street. Any interest?

Add another one to the heap as it might be relevant. The deaths section of The Irish Times for October 8th 1867 records the death of Henry Jacques late of Abbey Street Dublin.
