I have 2 brothers on the 1891 census, Sebastian and Chrisitian Wambach (miss-transcribed on the census as Wainbach) The elder brother set up a business in Glasgow in 1889. Later the company spread to England, Essex and Suffolk in particular. The parents and 5 other siblings came over also prior to the 1901 census (i'm thinking c1894) Is it possible to find anymore record of Sebastian in Scotland? His marriage perhaps? Passenger lists? I can't see him anywhere on the 1901 census.
Many thanks

Not sure if you have seen this : http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/commons/1918/jul/18/wambach-and-company
Appears that in 1918, aftermath of WW1 when anti-german feeling running high - they & their business (the 4 WAMBACH brothers) were discussed in the House of Commons; seems some quarters wanted to see that their business was wound up under the Trading With the Enemy (Amendment) Act, 1916.
Would Sebastian have been one of the 4 brothers discussed in 1918? It seems so, going by his Naturalisation date ?

I think this will be Sebastian in the 1901.:
1901: 6 Whitevale Street - Dennistoun, Glasgow Parish 644/3, ED 17, page 12, HS 70 Head: Frederick WARNLOCH 33, Sausage Skin Merchant, b Germany, German Subject Wife: Christina WARNLOCH 25, b Wishaw, Shotts Brother: Theodore WARNLOCH 22, Sausage Skin Merchant, b Germany, German Subject
SCOTLANDS PEOPLE Marriage: Lanarkshire Frederick WAMBACH and bride: Christina
The Times, Tuesday, Jul 16, 1918; pg. 8; Issue 41843; col E Question in the House of Commons Four WAMBACH brothers , Wambach & Company Manufacturers of Cat Gut & Sausage Skins Business' at Barking Colchester & Ipswich owned by 4 brothers - 3 of whom naturalised and 1 not. Of the 3 Naturalised, 1 was in 1908 and the other 2 in 1909. (Infers there were other business' before the war in another name, at Horwich & Yarmouth) The brother who was not Naturalised was William WAMBACH, interred in July 1915, but was released by license before Jul 1918. The business in Glasgow owned by one of the naturalised brothers. The business/brothers were all placed under supervision in 1917.
These appear to be the 4 brothers: NATIONAL ARCHIVES - Nationality and Naturalisation: 1) Heinrich Friedrich Yacob WAMBACH from Germany. Resident in Ipswich. Certificate 17495 issued 24 July 1908 2) Taeodore Friedrich WAMBACH, from Germany. Resident in Glasgow. Certificate 18064 issued 1 June 1909 3) Sebastian Ferdinand Friedrich, from Germany.Resident in Glasgow.Certificate 18065 issued 1 June 1909 4) Wilhelm Christian WAMBACH. No Nationality. Resident in London. Certificate 17410 issued 16 August 1929
the only other brother the 1901 Frederick could be is Heinrich F Y, if he was close in age to Sebastian. (Census 1891shows "Christian" was b abt 1876?) But I'm picking Heinrich was one of the Harry/Henry WAMBACH who is found in England 1901?
Not sure if you are familiar with the German naming conventions that sees boys of the same family all with the same forename (eg: Freidrich) within their full set of forenames.

Thanks Ambly,
I do have questions from the commons stuff and the nat archives naturalisation numbers, I have had Heinrich's naturalisation documents for a few years and they have been very useful! I have only just come back to this family as there are more records about and am finally getting somewhere! I am planning a trip to Kew next week all going well and will take a look at all of the Wambach naturalisations as I believe Karl Heinrich may be a brother also and I know Henriette is a sister. I'd like to see if I can find more on Wilhelms Internment.
Thank you for the 1901 thats fantastic! Is there anyway of finding births to Sebastian and Christina? I am not familiar with Scottish records. I'd love to find out more about him and the company in Glasgow!
Thanks again
