Hi All,
Would some one please try and find for me on the Parish Records for 'Stock' Essex, the baptism's for William Barnes born c1833 and George Barnes born c1836?
Their parents were Joseph Barnes born c1806 in Buttesbury Essex and Sarah [ surname unknown at this point] born c1816 in Ramsden Crays.
There may of been other Barnes children belonging to Joseph and Sarah which I do not know of.
Any help would be wonderful. Thankyou Wendy

Hi Wendy
I haven't got the actual marriages fiche for Ramsden Crays but I have got the banns one.
In September/October 1829 Banns of marriage were called between Joseph Barnes and Sarah Porter, both single and of this parish.

There's a baptism in Stock on 23rd March 1834 for a William Barnes, son of Joseph and Sarah. Joseph's occupation is given as a farmer and their place of residence is Ramsden Crays.
I also spotted a baptism for a Sarah Barnes on 20th June 1830. Again, it's Joseph and Sarah of Ramsden Crays, although at that point he is only a labourer.
This ties in with your Ramsden Crays/Stock connection and the banns of marriage in 1829.
With a marriage in 1829 I think it's very unlikely that Sarah was born in 1816 though. She'd have been too young to marry in 1829 even for those times.

Hi Diblet,
Thankyou so very much for the information that you have found on Joseph Barnes and Sarah [Porter] Barnes.
All the info fits in extremely well. I do agree that the Sarah born in 1816 is very unlikely to be my Sarah.
When I first put the request in for this look-up I did put Sarah birth down as c1816 because that is what I worked her age to be from the 1841 census. But when I worked out her age from the 1851 census Sarah was born c1811 which would fit perfectly with all the info that you have given. Thankyou once again.
Wendy
