prob best to start with the Marriage Cert to get an idea of his age and see who he said his Father was - and witnesses etc can be of great help.

Hi
Welcome to Rootschat Cheesy

Do you have their Marriage cert? If you have his father's name and occupation it will help pin him down on censuses. The name is unfortunately very common.

doh, you already had the info !

what a waste of time  Angry

Quote
i am looking for any information on a robert phillips he was a leatherdresser and married my great grandmother in 1918 he was a bachchlor age 58 my grandmothers name was helena smith they lived in alexio street bermondseyher maiden name was miller any information would be great i cannot find his death.
christina

So the end result is that someone who causes unnecessary work gets exonerated and promised that 'the big stick' will come out next time'   ... and the person who has helped gets a lambasting !

It is always best to give all the info you already have to avoid duplication of effort. I take it what you now need is the census entries for Robert?

Why do people not put all the info they have on one post and not duplicate the post? Seem such a waste of people time.

Good work Tati & Passed Master

I will add my own reminder to be gentle with new members.

There is no need to be rude or cantankerous when pointing out that it is a good idea to indicate what you already know.  After all, we were all young/new/naive/wet-behind-ears at least once in our lives.  It would do none of us any harm to remember that once in a while.  Wink

Christina,

Hopefully the information will help you.  If there is anything else, just post your query and tell us what you already know.  If you get any further grief, please say and I'll have to get the bigger stick out.  Wink
