Looking at old OS maps I cannot see a Mardyke Road but have found Mardyke Street. It was built between 1871 & 1894 through what was the grounds of the Deaf & Dumb Asylum just off the Old Kent Road (near the Bricklayers Arms) between Mason Street & Townsend Street. The 1894 & 1914 maps show it having apparently 10 rather larger than average buildings (look at least twice the size of the regular houses). It doesn't appear on contemporary maps, so perhaps Mardyke House has been built over this road. The site of the Asylum is now shown as Townsend Primary School.

edit:
It would appear that Mardyke House, now showning as Crosslet Street (the next turning) has been built over this road. Mardkye House currently has 50 flats listed: http://www.zoopla.co.uk/home-values/london/crosslet-street/?pn=1

Jack

Found this:  http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/read/1/54947
which has reference to Booth's note books for Mardyke Street.

Also, have you seen this page:  http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/southwark/main/index.html

Might be of interest.

Hi Thanks for that piece of information, and yes it is Mardyke Street, Idid manage to obtain a 1914-1916 Ordnance Map which shows that the building were bigger than most.
The houses all had names such as Arthur house, Grant House,Wellington House.Lincoln and so on , with up 32 rooms , i got this by going through the 1901 census,
But my quest for a picture go's on,

     Thanks you for your answers
