I am hoping someone can find a birth record for William Elwood born in Scawby, Lincs, about 1826.
I have him married to Elizabeth Wheatcroft, and in the censuses, but would like to know any details of his birth and hopefully parents, please.

Madpants, that was very quick, Thankyou!
So Williams fathers name was Jarvis, I have been barking up the wrong tree again then.
I will now go on a Jarvis hunt, trouble is there are so many variations of the spelling.
There is a Gervase bn abt 1795 married to Sarah, I wonder if Wm might be one of theirs.
The William you have found in 1851 in Blyton must be the right one, his first daughter was born there.

Yes he did!!! first daughter born in Blyton, Sarah Ann
I found a gravestone inscription for Mary Ann Elwood (nee Slight) and she died only 2 years after marriage, 1843.
I dont know the area at all, but Broughton is where one of the Elwoods was a postmaster I think about 1881.
So Gervase and Sarah Walker married Broughton 1824, sound like very likely parents for William born 1826.
I will follow that lead and see where I end up

Yes I think youre right, william could have been the oldest of those kids, born in 1826. There must be more of them floating around somewhere, a big gap between Mary 15 and William 25. Hmm...So many Jarvises married Mary Anns!
No wonder William called his own son Fred haha. I dont think he had a Jarvis.

Just as a side issue......with having 2 Jarvis Elwoods in one place I had to see how they were related
I THINK (from the IGI)
Gervase Elwood (the younger) (80 on 1851 census) is born 1768 son of Gervase (the elder)
Daniel is brother of Gervase the younger, son of Gervase the elder and Father and Uncle to both Jarvis' in the 1851!
