i am trying to sort out the Surname of
Ann Who married George Dodd
14 Sept 1762  Ivinghoe                        I am wondering if the witnesses could Help me

From A family bible /familytree prepared in the late 19c

i have George married to ANN CHANNER
Daughter of Mathew  Channer and Sarah Dell  Christened 1741  Ivinghoe

More recent Entries seem ( IGI ) seem to Say Her Surname was Chapman


A Reason for Ann channer ,marrying George Dodd   is  That Mathew 1713-1792
in His Will Refers to his Daughter  ANN Dodd


He talks about his son William , and then  giving his daughters Elizabeth Channer  and Sarah Channer  £100   ( from his 2nd marriage to Mare Ware)    Although i think Sarah was Married by then to  Henry Horn Perhaps he had died as 1793 she marries  John Bates

then he refers to his Daughters Margaret  roun Huh ( Browne) £10  ANN DODD  £10   ( from 1st Wife Sarah Dell)

he also talks about his son James and his child ( mathews Grandchildren )

in his will

also talks about  George Dodd brother in law   as his executer
and talks about his nephew george dodd   ( on IGI  George Dodd and ANN  ( no Surname ) george Christened 1774 In Chennies)


Mathews / Sarah Dell Children were
 Wiliam 1737-1795  Ivinghoe  Married to Mary Harris

Margaret 1739 Ivinghoe           Married to Christopher BROWNE

Ann 1741 Ivinghoe              I have Married to GEORGE DODD

sarah 1743-1743       when i think mother also died around this time


mathew/Mary ware

James 1748 -1828   Married to Frances DODD1752-1832                Prehaps this is How william has a Brother inlaw Called George

                                                 HER PARENTS WERE JOHN Dod 1707  AND SARAH WRIGHT 1709

Sarah 1750-               Married to Henry Horn

Elizabeth 1752-1829  Ivinghoe

George 1755  Ivinghoe                            Dont know what happed to HIm but assume he was alive 1793  as he was mentioned In Fathers Will


Lucy 1756-1796 Ivinghoe         Not Sure why she was Not Mentioned

Horatio 1763-1763




we think mathew had a Son Charles Married to Frances Lewis    ( No Christenning  and not  mentioned  on the Will
of mathew or his son william )

on the Family  tree down in the 19c he is listed with a dotted line  And a Note to say He took the Family Crest to America 

Of Chesham, Bucks.
The descendants of whom use the Crest of Chaloner of Guisborough, County
York. i.e A demi Sea-wolf rampant "proper" instead of "or".

Hope all this is Helpful In trying to Find out If  Ann Channer 1741 Ivinghoe Married George DODD 1762  Ivinghoe

I know a Lot  of old Documents are Hard to read

( My father Transcribe the Wills for me  From Copies I Got from the record Centre 15 Years Ago )
