Hi Can any one please help me, on my gran's birth certificate the address where born looks like 4 Watmough street, its just the first letter I can not make out, if it is a W, H ,or N the rest is very clear. it has registration district Manchester, Sub-district of Ancoats, this would be in 1889. Can any one tell me if there was a Watmough street, I would appreciate any help. Regards Sue

I don't know if this helps but on the 1881 census there is a Whatmough Street, Ancoats, Manchester.
If you could just post a snippet of that word someone would most likely be able to tell you.

Hi Sue
If it is any help, it looks like by the 1891 census the houses in Whatmough Street were called Tricketts Buildings.

Hi, There was a Whatmough Street on the borders of Ancoats and Miles Platting. It was north of the junction with Oldham Road and Naylor St, which are still there today.
If you go on google maps and search for Nuneaton Drive, Manchester M40, that's roughly where Whatmough St was.
Hope that helps Barbara
