Rupert or Leander Miller Canada to London
« on: Tuesday 08 March 05 19:45 GMT (UK) »

Hi can someone help me, I don't know that much about looking up things, but I really want to find some info out on my grandad who nobody knows anything about, his name was either Rupert Miller or Leander Miller, and he was from Novia scotia canada, we think, he's a bit slippery, he was born around the 1880s, I tried the Canada census, but it didn't seem to allow any name searches, he came over here and married my grandmother in London in 1921, please I'm completley stuck, how can I find out any info on this man

Hi 1mick,
Here is a link to the Automated 1901 Canadian Census. There is a Leander Miller living in Nova Scotia, b. 1882, who might fit your profile:

If you run into any problems navigating the site, let me know.

Good luck,

Thank you very very much that was just great, we found a leander R Miller   which we think might be him, as he changed his name around allot we believe middle name and first name, and the fathers name seems to be the right initial, we were just wondering if we wanted to now find the birth certificate where would we look, it says Nova Scotia on the census as place of birth and 1876

Hi mick1,
Vital Statistics for the Province of Nova Scotia:
http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/vstat/history.asp

The Canada GenWeb Project also has a couple of sites you might be interested in:
Nova Scotia GenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~canns/
Annapolis County GenWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nsannapo/

Interestingly, Leander R. Miller is not with the same family in the 1881 census.  Here is a link to a transcription of the census for Clarence, Annapolis County:
