Good morning Smiley I wonder if calf jobber is like a butcher?

Also... I know you've already gone above and beyond, David and Tempsford, but is there a William Jaggard born in 1730 in Dullingham? And how far back do the PR go? Would there be any births in the 1500's? A Thomas, or John or William? Or any at all?

My gratitude and thanks once again. What a revelation the information you've given me has been Cheesy

Or maybe not a butcher, but a step down from that, perhaps like an abattoir worker of today.

As a jobber is a dealer/middleman I imagine he bought and sold calves.

Gulielmi (ie William) Jaggard son of    Phillippi & Marthae JAGGARD baptised 18 May 1729 at Dullingham

The parish register starts in 1558 and yes there are baptisms of Thomas son of Robert on 15 March 1574; and John son of Robert on 16 Jan 1582, but you've got a long way to go before you can link 1745 to these names!

Thank you for the latest information David Smiley

I am working back through and have another plea for help, I'm not sure if I should start a new post for it?

I'm looking now for the marriage of John Aves (Eaves) to Frances Hasle (Hasell) in 1705 in West Wickham, Cambs. The witnesses or any information, about otp or not, or anything, would be most helpful.

Hi,
They didn't marry in West Wickham but Stetchworth.
John Aves marr Frances Hasle 25 Jun 1705. No witnesses listed.

Hi Tempsford and thank you, I put West Wickham because it was an extracted entry on the IGI. Is the IGI often wrong?

I'm trying to pin down which Frances Hasle (Hasell) it is. I think there are 3 possibilities, one born in Bottisham 1687, one in Fullbourn in 1679 and one in Huntingdon in 1686. I'm not sure how to narrow it down, I hoped the marriage might clear it up with a witness name or if they were otp.

Thanks again Tempsford Smiley

Hi,
I would have thought that extracted records should be accurate although on this occassion the submitted entry is actually the correct one!
I think you can rule out the Frances Hasell bap 16 Jun 1687 Bottisham dau of John and Frances as Frances, dau of John was buried 9 Aug 1687.
Frances bap 6 Apr 1679 dau of William and Frances in Fulbourn appears to have survived into adulthood although there are a few gaps in the burial register.
Can't help with the Frances born in Huntingdon.

I doubt if the entry is wrong. The transcriber couldn't have invented the marriage, so it's possible it was also entered in West Wickham parish register.

Fulbourn is only 6 miles east of Stetchworth, which is 6 miles north of West Wickham.

I can't see a marriage or burial for the Huntingdon Frances, which in any event is some distance away. I prefer Fulbourn but proving it is nigh on impossible

Thank you both Smiley Smiley Smiley

The Bottisham and Fulbourn girls were from the same Hasell family I believe, from different brothers, or a brother and uncle, I've not worked that out yet. I was leaning towards the Fulbourn Frances as well David.

You two have both been awesome, thank you so so so much.

I think I may have to get the Kirtling PR, I have another side of the family there now, the Chalice/Challis family, and feel bad asking all the time. How do I get them? Is it from the Cambridgeshire Records Office?

I've ordered two CD-ROMs to start off with from CFHS via Parish chest, thanks.

In the meantime, because I couldn't afford to get Dullingham yet Sad could I ask for one more lookup?

Any witnesses, otp information for a marriage between John Aves and Susan Chalice (Challis) 1744 in Dullingham?

Thank you again,
Emma-Jane

Pre 1754 you're unlikely to get more than the two names; a parish of residence if you're very lucky.
