I found two entries for David Price.
David Price aged 8, born in county and in the Oswestry House of Industry in Weston Cotton, Shropshire. 1841 HO107 915 1/67 2
David and Elizabeth Price both aged 40 with children David aged 9 and Jane aged 8 - all born in county. David senior is an Agricultural labourer and they are living in Oswestry, Shropshire. HO107 914 6/7 24

Many thanks. Anything helps. This is a huge ancestoral brickwall I haven't managed to get over in many years. I have David Jrs marriage and death cert. but being English they don't record the mother's name. He is recorded as being born in Stepney but I have reason to believe that this is false dure to family legend below..
... her father's family were wealthy and owned a slate quarry in Shropshire, and also property on the Welsh borders. Her father (David PRICE) married below his station, to the displeasure of his parents. Who disowned him and disinherited him. He soon fell into debt and poverty. One day bailiffs came to evict her father and his bride, a fight quickly ensued and her father killed one of the bailiffs. Fleeing the murder scene her father joined the British Army and fought with them through the Crimean War. Whilst serving in the Crimea he changed his identification with a dead soldier".

You don't give any further dates but could David the son be in the 'House of Industry' if there had been a family break up? Although one would think the wife's family would have taken him in?

It sounds as though your user name is appropriate!
I have loads of Prices and am having real difficulties with them. They are mainly in Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire - don't think I can help any further but I do wish you luck.
