Did Albert's death notice/obituary mention any names for Robert's wife and what newspaper was it in as that might narrow down the area to search.
There is a record of a Robert Dargue, 16 1/2, single, b. South Shields, leaving Liverpool and arriving Quebec 30 April 1927 on the Montcalm. His occupation in Britain was electrical apprentice and he was intending to farm in Canada. His address in Canada was B.I.C.A. Hostel Montreal. The address of his nearest kin in Britain was his mother Mrs. Charlotte Dargue of 399 S. Palmerston St. S. Shields. Any relation? The birth year is quite off compared to 1919.
On FreeBMD there is a birth registration for Robert R. Dargue Dec 1910 S. Shields 10a 787
http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/ From a search at this site there is a grave for Robert Dargue in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Grey County Sarawak Township Ontario and also in Mount Pleasant is Thirsa Dargue (nee Quesnell). A possibility for Robert?
Vital statistics in Canada are not handled on a national level but are governed by individual provinces and what is publically accessible varies. They are all governed by privacy laws and if your family married in Ontario you can see from this link how limited the resouces are to trace forward. http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/archival-records/interloan/vsmain.aspx

ancestry misinterpreted Florence's last name as Dargas which delayed finding her.
She also emigrated in 1927. Florence Ann Dargue left Liverpool bound for Quebec on the ship Regina. She arrived June 4, 1927. She was 20, single, b. Hull, England. She was a domestic in England and was going to do the same work in Canada with a destinatin of Canadian Women's Hostel Calgary, Alberta. Her mother, Charlotte Jane Dargue, was given as her next of kin in England with the same address as Robert's shipping record.

http://pagesofthepast.ca/ You might be able to trace the family through birth, marriage and death announcements in this paper.

Hi Jacq,
I checked the Toronto Star archives and the only reference for "Dargue" was for Albert. Which was in 1977... I saved a copy of the page in the paper if you want it. I saw in the above posts that she was bound for Calgary, Alberta? I wonder if she married out there? I'll see if I can find the newspaper archives for Calgary..

I see that there were six more births for Dargue / Atkinson after Robert...the last one shown as 1927. ( matches the date he left at age 16...quite a venture for a young lad...)
Here are some other Dargue, Not yours, but in case they turn up as other rellies ( Note the lady not a Dargue is 184...Hmmmmm ) http://www.rootschat.com/links/07de/
