Tracing Living Descendants

Is it possible to find living descendants of ancestors in the UK?

I have had great success in finding descendants of common ancestors here in Australia and would now like to do the same in the UK.

I have been researching a family line and have managed to find children born in the range 1941-1951 who may still be alive.

How do I find these people? I'd love to contact them. They should be able to tell me more about the family.
What resources are available online to locate people?

Looks like Genes Reunited might have a person I am seeking but without a subscription I cannot contact them.

Are there electoral roles or phone books searchable online for free?

www.bt.com has the current phone book though not everybody is listed as they have the option to be ex directory.   www.192.com has electoral roll lists though again you can opt out of a public listing I believe.
