carluke burial

WILLIAM LAWRIE died at blythbank farm, carluke on 3/6/1870.
i contacted south lanarkshire council to find out  if he was buried at carluke cemetery but their records for carluke start in 1885.
can anyone suggest where i could find the records for 1870's.
