hi all
The more I do the less I find!
Caroline Harris b.c1821 poss. Urdmore?
Had a son George Griggs b. 1839.. [could he have been a twin? Ann Eliza Griggs b. same time, died September 1843 Hastings 7/233]
Cannot find a marriage Harris-Griggs on BMD, presume it would be pre 1838. Would appreciate a look up.
Have found a death for a William John Alderson Griggs - March 1842 Hastings reg: 7/276 - don't know if this is relevant as ages weren't put on register at that time.
In November 1842 [bit soon methinks] married John Enefer [yes them again]. Name given at marriage Caroline Griggs.
She married again in 1847 [after Johns death] a William Barton. Name given as Caroline Harris. Is that legal?
any help appreciated

Thanks Gaie
Its the right family, certainly proves the twin theory, but unfortunately doesn't help with a marriage date, although it looks more like its true.
I was beginning to think they were telling porkies. My lot certainly seem to have had their fair share of unaccountable 'neices/nephews'
Ah well such is life!!

Hi omega
A big thank you
By the way what is the SMI and for that matter the FMP.
Sorry to appear so thick but I haven't got a clue what these anacronyms stand for or where to look for them.

Hi Corndolly
Your not thick,we are all learning all the time.
The SMI,is the Sussex Marriage Index, which i have on a disc.i purchased it when i belonged to a Family History Society .Its largely Pre 1837 But sometimes,if your lucky, some go up to 1840.
FMP,is findmypast,a subscription site which has the Census & other stuff.
Hope this helps
