Hi

If the source you are checking for marriages and deaths is FreeBMD she could quite easily still be alive by the time their coverage runs out. FreeBMD is an ongoing project. Present coverage charts are here

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/progress.shtml

coverage of deaths goes up to around 1935, with gaps in 1934, when Jane would have been about 63.

Did she have a second name?
There is a Jane.M. Heggie Marriage 1917, but it is in Lancashire, on Freebmd.

Hi

Though Ancestry has indexed the GRO indexes for births and marriages it has yet to do so for deaths. It is relying on FreeBMD (which it sponsors so it has access to FreeBMD indexes). The FreeBMD death index will be more up to date with new transcriptions than the Ancestry death index, but otherwise they are the same. Ancestry does have an electronic death index from 1984-2005 which is independent of FreeBMD. It promises the full GRO index for deaths is coming soon. Otherwise at present the only way to access the GRO indexes from 1935-1983 is by checking the quarterly images of the GRO indexes themselves which is of course time consuming it you have no specific date.

Ancestry's index 'London Deaths and Burials 1813-1980' is their index for the burial registers held at the LMA and the Guildhall Library for church burials (in central London mostly only up to the late 1840s, though some church registers for burial will go up to the 1980s but mostly only those churches in less urban areas) and workhouse death registers. Most London burials and later cremations from the 1840s onwards took place in cemeteries.

About London, England, Deaths and Burials, 1813-1980
This data collection consists of death and burial records from Board of Guardian Poor Law records and from more than 10,000 Church of England parish registers in the greater London area. The Board of Guardian records cover the years 1834-1906 while the parish registers cover the years 1813-1980.

From her birth registration in 1872 it appears Jane Heggie did not have a second name.

Hi

People can be known by any name they chose.  Ancestry or the GRO since it is the General Regisrty Office civil registration index whatever website it appears in, can only index what is written on the marriage certificate, the information having come from the person who gave it. If Arthur chose to give his name on his marriage as William Arthur Heggie that would be up to him.
