Hi
I am looking for information on William Pollock born about 1830 and Joan Brown born about 1820 they were married 1848 in Drumelzier.
Their children were John 1845, Alexander 1849, Elisabeth 1852, William 1853, Hellen 1856 and David 1860. I have looked at s/p and register house but I must be looking at the wrong district hope someone can help.

Thanks for your help, now I have where they lived I now can focus on the other dates ie marriage and deaths.

Hi Lyndsey,
this is a Pollock family I have research for some time, as already mentioned Joan Pollock ms Brown died 1867,shortly after William Pollock married 2nd time to Helen Whillans on 26th Nov1869,at Maxton.
William Pollock died soon after on 3rd April 1870 at Maxton leaving Helen with his children and 2 of her own,Jessie & James Pollock.1871 living at Ednam,
Now things get complicated from a research point off view as Helen Pollock then married John White in July 1879 at Maxton, this John White was in fact John born 1845,son of Joan Brown before she married William Pollock,
So Helen married her first husbands step-son,are you with me so far.
John White is recorded on the 1861 and 1871 Census as John Pollock living with the Pollock family,born at Eddleston,after his marriage to Helen he is recorded in 1881 as John White,John and Helen had 4 children Agnes,John,Joan and William White.
Alexander Pollock married Nicholenia Tolmie,8th DEC 1871 at Redpath,Earlston,7 children,
William Pollock married Margaret McBain April 1876 at Liberton,7 children,
David Pollock married Euphemia Scott 1888 at Parkhouses,Wilton,no known children,
Elizabeth Pollock,poss son William Ker Pollock born 1876 at Maxton?had a problem researching her.
Helen Pollock married Archibald Anderson,1877,5 children.

Hi Ann,
according to her marriage cert the parents of Nicholenia Tolmie were Adam Tolmie and Agnes Tweedhope, one of the witnesses was Jane Tolmie, in 1901 Alexander Pollock and family were living near Cornhill Northumberland, which is just over the border,
Joan Pollock ms Brown died at Primside Mill,Morebattle,
on 13th May 1867 age 49yrs, wife of William Pollock,
father James Brown,surfaceman,dec.
mother Elizabeth Brown ms Ballantyne,dec.
I have not researched the Brown family.

Thanks for sendimg me the info on the Pollocks and Tolmie. It is some story you sent through, trying to get my head around Helen marrying her Stepson.
