Can anyone give me any info on George Bateman who was born in 1827 in Tidbrook, Beds.  He married Mary Bodle in 1864 in Brighton.

If you check the IGI at www.familysearch.org you'll find his baptism in 1837 aged 11 at Tilbrook, not Tidbrook. He may have been illegitimate.

in 1851 he was born 1827 Tilbrook, & was an Ostler at the Swan Inn, Fulham Middlesex

on 1841 census, he was in Tilbrook, age 15. Ag Lab, living with George & Harriett Osborn. Also there was a 45 yr old Elizabeth Bateman, Dressmaker

..... also on 1841 is a Thomas West, age 20, Ag Lab which could be Thomas Pashler Bateman that tallies with his baptism in 1834 at age 16 at Tilbrook, see the IGI site as directed by Beds Boy. There was also a John Bateman baptised on same day as John

Regards John

The IGI has a marriage of John Bateman to Elizabeth West on 19 Feb 1821 at Tilbrook

Interestingly there is another baptism of Thomas Pashler Bateman on 10 Dec 1821
