Burial goods
« on: Wednesday 21 October 09 22:06 UTC (UK) »

Heard a radio programme today on what people had buried with them.
One, a lady of the travelling people died aged 92, she was dressed in her favourite leopardskin patterened pyjamas and purple turban, with all her costume jewellery, a bottle of Baileys`photographs of her family, cigs and lighter, and other wonderful things.

It was suggested that an avid crossword doer was buried with a paper(Telegraph) pencil and the next day`s Telegraph for the answers.
If it is not too morbid what would other RootsChatters like to be buried (or cremated) with?

Me?  I am still  considering --Viktoria.

My nana had:
Her favourite photo of her 'babies' (her gt-grandchildren) by one side of her head
A photo taken the year before with 4 generations of the family all together, at the other side of her head
a 'poppy' cross with my grandads name & army number on it (She always had one in her flat so we decided she should take one with her)
A Silver cross of mine (Mum couldnt bear to not keep nanas own cross cos it was over 100 years old)
A white cotton handy with lace on it (nana always had one in her pocket)
a freesia in her hand, cos freesias are our family flower, they are kind of a signiture thing.

LOL dad said he wanted to pop her apron in with her cos he thought she might need it - she took it everywhere with her!
