Curious for a Ruabon baptism
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 13:10 UTC (UK) »

 Smiley

I would appreciate a quick look up for a Sarah Roberts bc 1826 Ruabon.

She is not blood line, she is a second wife, but in my notes I have her mother - don't know how I got her name at all Huh

I have checked all my papers ans still can't find the connection.

So a look up would be much appreciated to stop me thinking I am going mad ...

Thanks very much Grin

Hi Sigrid  Smiley

I've looked but don't see a baptism around then. I might have missed something but I don't think so  Undecided

You say you have her mother. Who was  that?

Right, have checked and I missed it before, Roll Eyes

but I have Sarah Robert (s) on 1851 census, bc1826 Ruabon, with mother Pamela and brother Thomas. However, on closer inspection it looks like she was deaf, and unless I am mistaken, on later census, she is not!

I remember looking for Sarah unmarried on the 51 and this one with mother Pamela, seemed the one. Huh

1851 ref for anyone else who may be interested:

HO107/2503/352/29

Ponkey, Morton Above

Roberts
Pamela, hd, wid, 60, Pauper Coal miner's wife
Sarah, Dau, -do-, 25, -do-, deaf
Thomas, son, 22, -do-, deaf & dumb

All b. Ruabon

I'll see if I can find something on Pamela but it's a strange entry and they might have been non-conformists.

I have done a bit of digging and I know for certain that Pamela is not the mother, so the census I have is wrong. But not having an alternative baptism, I think this is another dead end.

I am not having much luck lately,, but you can't win them all! Grin

Thanks very much for your help. It is much appreciated. Smiley
