Epidemics in Armagh 1828 - 1829
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 15:02 UTC (UK) »

Three siblings died within a month of one another in Armagh between Dec 1828 and Jan 1829, none of them are buried in the family plot.   Could their deaths be caused by an epidemic, were they buried in a specific plot that was for deaths by infectious diseases.  The cemetery in question is St Marks, The Mall, Armagh.  The family were well  established so I presume the cause of death would be something other than starvation, hygiene etc.   Has anyone any thoughts please.

Cesca,
I am not aware of any major outbreak of disease in the year you are interested in but there were always localised outbreaks. The nearest major outbreak was in 1832/33 when cholera was a major factor in deaths at least in Ulster.

Regards
