« on: Thursday 22 October 09 15:15 UTC (UK) »

Any info Edmund Mullins b1803 Glin, Kilfergus, wife Bridget Kennedy b1803 Glin, son John b1829 Glin.
Roman Catholic
Immigrated to Canada 1832, first to Perth Ont, then Woodslee Ont in 1838.
Have heard of Different Glin's, Glyn in Limerick but assume Glin on Shannon River.
Have found a John Mullins being a 'Knight of Glin'
What would Knight of Glin' mean.
Thanks

It's a hereditary feudal title.

It's not a brilliant article but it'll give you an idea.  The current one is a famous art historian and author.

Apparently the John Mullins ' knight of glin' married into a Fitz family and was given land?
Was shown as a knight in a tithe or other list I saw.
Read the wiki before and not sure it takes on this question very clearly.
I would assume the fitz's kept records of this.  But have not found a website with the info.
Thanks
