Hi all,I'm trying to find Rowland Malam,born in Scarborough in 1874 to John William and Mary Emma nee Fell, sisters Laura Leycester and Evelyn.I've got him in the1881 census living with parents in Harmondsworth Middx,but no sign after that until his marriage to Muriel Alexander in 1923 at St Georges Hanover sq Middx.Can anyone see him in any other census or elsewhere?

My goodness they come from all over the place don't they( 1881)
Grandma even being born in Dublin.I see dad John W aged 38 is a retired cavalry officer.I wonder if that's something Rowland went into and therefore was serving abroad?
Have you found mum and dad and his sisters on any other census?

The sisters are 'visitors' in Kent, easily found using their Tunbridge PoB.
wonder if Rowland is with Mum and Dad abroad somewhere - or maybe boarding school and heavily mistranscribed ?

Hepburn,
I've found him in 1894 on a passenger list to Canada
R Malam born 1874 travelled to Quebec and Montreal on the Ship called the Vancouver on 26th April 1894.
He is listed as a labourer and contracted to land at Montreal.

Rowland W F Malam is on the border crossing list from Canada to the US dated 24 January 1915 leaving Vancouver. It says father John W Colchester England and that he was aged 40 and bound for San Angelo California. It also says wife Nora

Added- looking at the list again,it may be the person on the next line who has a wife Nora!

Many thanks all,we had found the 2 sisters in 1891 as visitors but no mother and father or Rowland.Laura(my ggrandmother)was married to Hugh,my ggrandfather and living in lodgings in
London in 1901.By 1911,Hugh was in a mental hospital in York and Laura(an actress and author)
was in different lodgings in London.We know that they had lived in Steynings Suffolk between these dates and had 4 children.Sadly my grandfather was the only surviving child and we don't know what happened to him until he turned up in Carlisle in 1924 and married my grandmother.

Hi again all,would anyone be able to help us trace William Cecil Bedwell,son of Laura and Hugh,born 1907 in Steyning Suffolk.We've tried the 1911 census without any luck, but know that he was in the army stationed at Carlisle castle in 1924.Probably he has lied about his age to get into the army.

If your enquiries are complete in Rowland Malam then please mark this thread as complete,by going back to the first posting and adding the word COMPLETE to the title.
