Alcester Record Office ?
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 17:10 UTC (UK) »

Hello folks,
I have found a couple of deaths registered in ALCESTER that I am keen to obtain (I do NOT want to use the GRO ). Can anyone advise me where I apply for these early dated certs ? I really like B'ham Register Office as I can supply all the info I have on the person & if the details on the cert do not match my info then my cheque is returned to me, also the certs are copies of the originals. SO...can I make an application to somewhere in ALCESTER...& are the certs  from them copies or typewritten ??

Hi

You can only apply to the local register office that holds the registers,  Registers from the Alcester Registration District are divided between Warwickshire South Register Office and Worcestershire Register Office.

The link below gives information on the Alcester Registration District and if you scroll down there are links to Warwickshire South & Worcestershire office information. Before visiting it may be best to confirm which office holds the registers for the specific location within the Alcester Registration District that you are interedted in.

Alcester no longer has its own office now comes under Warwick, you can download a form to apply by post.

Have a look at this link http://www.rootschat.com/links/07by/

Alcester certificates I have are either hand written or typed, although this was a while ago so they may now have the facilities for scanning the originals.

Any chance you are seeking WARD family in Alcester??.
If so I'd love to hear from you!
