South Muskham baptism lookup please - William WHITE
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 20:50 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for the baptism of my ancestor William WHITE, but I don't have much to go on. However I recently learned that when he married Margaret BRIGGS in 1809 at the Southwell Minster, he said he was "of South Muskham." By the 1841 census, Margaret was living alone in Southwell with two of their three daughters, and by 1851, she was confirmed as a widow. I assume that William died before 1841. Because of this I don't really know when William would have been born. His wife Margaret was born in 1788, so I think this would be around the right time for his birth/baptism as well. Does anyone have access to the South Muskham parish registers or an index who could check to see if William is listed there?

Thanks,
Alexander

Hi

I have a booklet of the transcribed registers of South Muskham and Little Carlton.

I have searched for William from the impossibly early date of 1732 until 1800 and he isn't there.

I think we suffer from the same problem - ancestors who said that they were born in South Muskham and are not there Cry.  That's why I have the book.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks very much for checking. I'm not sure where he would be then.

My grandma seems to have all the hardest name to research - first Hall and Cook, then Richardson and White! Roll Eyes
