HOOKWAY of St Thomas, Devon
« on: Friday 23 October 09 05:04 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

Would any kind person be able to help me find the parents of:

Beryl Winifrede L Hookway b June quarter 5b 37 St Thomas, Devon 1906.

Beryl  was an unassisted migrant to Sydney, Australia in 1920 with two other Miss Hookways. The other two Hookways (possibly Beryl's sisters) were Miss "F" and Miss "C T". If anyone is able to assist in any way I'd be extremely grateful,

Many thanks,

Pilgrim's Progress from Down Under.  Smiley  Smiley

Hi PP, when I lived in North Devon in the 40s there were three Hookway brothers living in the village of Meeth (not that far from Roborough), they owned a small coach service and did the school runs from surrounding villages to Torrington school, I knew all three at that time as I was one of the school kids, now Hookway Tours has become a large coach operator in Devon. There are still Hookways living in Meeth.
