HI Jenn

I know that her daughter Martha married a Edward Green in Victoria but I don't think there is a record for it, Martha and Edward had a few children before he died in 1861, and she remarried in 1862 to James Pullen at Yackandandah and they lived at Sandy Creek. On Martha's death certificate it states she was first married when she was 16.
The other daughter Sarah listed as age 22 on James Terry's death certificate I haven't searched for yet and their son John was born in 1851 I haven't searched for him yet either.

So on John Terry's death certificate there was only  the three children with a long age gap between the second and third child.

When did Martha Pullen die.

Hi Jenn

Yes thats right, Martha Died in 1888 in Cowra NSW. I have attached part of John Terry's death certificate with the kids names, John Terry and Sarah west married in 1836 but the eldest is age 22 which means she was born in 1832.
Cheers
Jo

A very long shot but perhaps Sarah, the daughter of John Terry aged 22 at his death was from an earlier marriage of John Terry??  Although I coudn't see a birth for the daughter Sarah Terry on NSW BMDs nor any mention on IGI.  However there are lots of reasons why the birth may not have been registered.

I see a Martha Terry birth in NSW in 1840, parents listed  John and Sarah Terry and also a Matilda J Terry to same parents also in 1840.

IGI has an extracted entry baptism for Martha Terry, with parents John Terry and Sarah, 14 May 1840 "Church of England NSW"  (no help with place though) and another extracted entry baptism in Yass 3 Feb 1841 for Matilda Jane Terry with parents John Terry and Sarah, (possible, I suppose to have had the two daughters registered in 1840).  Perhaps these are red herrings also  Huh

http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/2213501?searchTerm=%22bussorah+merchant%22

There is an account of the arrival of the Bussorah Merchant with 215 free women and the demand for them from respectable families.  Also  a "demand has been made for other services than those of a mere domestic nature no less than the hand of one of these young women"  Perhaps it was John Terry ??    Grin
It was not all a bed of roses though as 'the females in question have been subjected to much annoyance from an assemblage of idle vagabonds."

Snippets such as this give such a vivid picture of how it must have been for young women like Sarah arriving in Sydney.

Cheers, Judith
